Proposal Management

Attached to the Opportunity Proposals can be maintained. Proposals are light weight containers to store and track the proposals as they have been sent to the customer. You can send multiple proposal associated with one opportunity to a customer.

The following information is stored with a proposal:

  • Proposal Number: a number you issue or id you give to the proposal. This can also be a descriptive name
  • Status: the status of the proposal. The predefined values are as follows:
    • Draft: the initial status when you start working on a proposal but it is not yet ready to be sent to the customer
    • Submitted: is to be set when the proposal is has been sent to the customer and you are awaiting feedback from the customer
    • Accepted: to be confirmed when the customer accepts the proposal. This is also the point in time when an opportunity is closed and won
    • Rejected: to be set if the customer rejects one or several proposal or request changes.
  • Amount: the total proposed amount
  • Currency: the currency of the proposal (this should be the same as the currency in the opportunity)
  • Files: you can also attach files to a proposal. There are three different files that can be attached to a proposal
    • Calculation: the internal calculation you make to come to the price you offer to the customer
    • Internal: the internal document (typically an editable document)
    • External: the final proposal sent to the customer (PDF or similar) documenting what has been submitted
